Reasons to not Declaw

  • – It takes a long time to heal
  • – It's one of their main defense mechanisms
  • – They need it to knead/scratch to relieve stress. Declawing could make them act out.

Other necesseties besides the basics

  • Toys! This is something you should not skimp out on.
  • Cats are natural hunters. Anything they can chase is great like wands or electronic toys they can chase or try to catch.
  • Any tiny toys are great too, but a fan favorite are springs! They are cheap and most cats love to swat them around.

Healthy Litter

  • Many don't know the importance of litter, but that's okay because that's what we are here for!
  • Things to think about:
  • Things they are made of: Crystal, Natural (paper/tree), or Clay
  • Natural litters - Are most likely to mess with allergys. Read packaging carefully or test it. Keep close attention to you and your cat.
  • Clay litters - Can be clumping and non-clumping. These tend to be phsyically heavier and dustier than other options which can cause congestion problems.
  • Crystal litters - This type is usually non-clumping and less dusty.
